I didn't like the soldering on the motor so I soldered the wires into the holes on the 12V motor. I also checked the alignment of the three pairs of vanes in the suction pump and aligned them all so that the convex surface was in contact with the machined wall of the pump's inner surface to prevent abrasion when running dry. The pump outlet was a little sudsy, but reliably pumped oil out of the engine pan. I really liked the separate on/off switch so that you don't have to disconnect the power connections from the battery. The pump works well and I expect to use it for all my oil change tasks instead of the tedious manual vacuum pumps I've used for years. I like that the outlet hose has a self-sealing fitting so the oil stays in the hose instead of leaking into the packaging.
