Whilst these measuring cups have some fantastic design features, other areas of the design seem to have been overlooked which negatively affects the functionality and usability of this product. I have only used it for a short time, but in that time I have encountered functional problems of such severity that I cannot recommend this product. to offer more comfort and less slippage (as well as thermal protection, depending on the specific tool). In general, OXO Good Grips products are well made, reasonably priced, and offer functional performance compared to other products. Sold in quantities of 4 measuring cups, you will receive 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 1 cup sizes of each. The case is made of relatively thick stainless steel with silicone inserts on top and hard plastic inserts on the bottom. The markings are made by laser engraving (less durable than solid engraving) and each cup has only one mark. No internal half marks like many other products. Unlike other measuring cups that are held together with a ring or chain, these measuring cups are designed to be held together with small magnets located at the top of each handle. They are comfortable to hold and, like other OXO Good Grips products, give the Hekkuwa a good grip even when covered in slippery oil. The flared hem at the top makes it easy to achieve even alignment without too much mess, and all edges have been finished uniformly, eliminating the need to cut sharp corners into the leather. Using magnets to tie them to a standard o-ring or chain is ingenious in design as it's theoretically much more convenient (and therefore time-saving). . This is a BIG problem as the Bellemain and KitchenMade 6 piece sets are best in class quality and cost about the same. Also, many products in this price range use heavier hard engraving and have multiple markers (including internal intermediate markers) and when only 4 sizes are included the importance of those middle internal markers seems even more important! Given the more comfortable grips and magnetic design, I might have forgotten if the magnetic design worked better. But the magnets used are extremely weak. They don't generate enough force to hold them together let alone stick to a metal object like a fridge and I've included a video to show how weak these magnets are. This problem is compounded by the fact that these measuring cups do not nest deeply and the only contact surface when stacked is the area of the handle which is only about 10% in contact and this inherently makes the whole transaction very unstable. Also, OXO has NOT drilled holes in them for loops in case someone wants to use a ring with them, making them less flexible. Finally, cup sizes 1/4 and 1/3 are not stable. The handle is too heavy compared to the body and when you measure lighter ingredients they won't lay flat on a flat surface. This can quickly become frustrating. CONCLUSION While I think many of the design ideas in this OXO measuring cup set offer potential improvements over traditional designs, there are a couple of fairly important issues that are preventing this set from realizing its full potential. Weak magnets are the biggest problem as this is the only possible method of holding them together when stacked and this is a pretty important element. With so many high quality measuring cups available at this price point (not to mention many of those other brands that have two or three extra sizes as well as more detailed markings on heavier engravings), I cannot recommend these OXO Good Grips.
