I prefer this style of wheel markers to other types I've tried. This is beautifully made and I use it often for laying out joinery. It is easy to install and the installation is securely fixed. There are two knurled knobs that secure the shaft. One fixes the position of the pressure gauge, and the second fixes the shaft to the micro-adjustment mechanism. To use micro adjustment, loosen the main locking knob and tighten the micro adjustment knob. There is some "play" in the threads of the micro-adjust mechanism, but there is a nylon set screw that you can adjust to keep everything in place when you turn the micro-adjust on, so you can use the micro-adjust to adjust the Adjust adjustment a little in either direction before locking the adjustment sensor. After proper adjustment, tighten the main lock knob. There is a depth mark on the transducer, but I don't find it useful. Most of the time I adjust the gauge depending on the thickness of the workpiece or with a combination square. I use this caliber almost every day and I hope it will give me years of reliable performance.
