I've been using K&N for years and every new car (new to me) I buy I install one of these in the first place. . I'm surprised more used (new to me) cars don't have a K&N yet? Sure it won't give me more than 5mpg on average, but it will give me at least 1-2 more than what I'm currently getting, but only time will tell. My average is 19.2 MPG and I'm expecting at least 20 if not a little bit better. You have to keep in mind that for the $50 it costs, you save buying new filters every few years and you don't get performance and a small MPG spike. I say why you would go without one of these in your car or truck is beyond me, but I like what it gives me.
