Review on πŸ“· Opteka 72-Inch Photo Video Monopod: Ultimate Stability for Digital SLR Cameras and Camcorders by Marco Gavi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to use, slightly wobbly switches, otherwise everything is fine.

I use it for quality real estate photography. It stays on my camera. When I'm doing panoramas, I just snap in the rubber foot and flip it over as many times as needed. It's pretty easy to keep it upright. Easy to pivot. Pros: 1) it's CHEAP. Not necessarily poorly made, but inexpensive. 2) The small rubber foot works great indoors, the spike works great outdoors. I would not have expected such a function from a very cheap monopod. 3) The foam grip is large and well padded. 4) Adjustment levers are positive (if a bit weak). Cons: 1) the thing stinks a bit. I'm not sure what products they have, but they have a specific smell that doesn't go away quickly. 2) An annoying and useless tip ring. I took the strap off and used a rasp to file a little plastic thing for the ring to go through. It irritated my hand when carrying the camera. 3) The large plastic plate that sits on top of the camera is the last thing that rotates when you tighten it. I'm concerned this will mark the bottom of my camera.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
