Once you understand how much you get for the price with this telescope; I'd say you're doing a good deal. We have previously bought a cheap telescope that was 1/3 the price of this one and it was just awful. He was shaking a lot and the tripod was so light it seemed like he was going to fall. There's a price point you need to hit in order to have a good time with your telescope, and I think we've hit rock bottom with that. This is of course a budget entry level, but we can still see Mars pretty well; it just looks like a big circle. Looking at the moon is wonderful and you can see some nice details, especially for a 6 year old. This scope has a decent tripod, although fine-tuning the scope to your position can be a little tricky. I would point it up a bit because I knew it would fall a little if I took my hands off it. It's a bit like shooting Kentucky. What I really like is that all 3 eyepieces are attached to the spotting scope. The scope saves an image of the scope as you rotate it, that's great. Personally, I'd rather have a straight viewfinder than an angled one like theirs, but it works well. The telescope's main image is spot on compared to some telescopes' inverted images, so it's pretty good, especially if you're using it for terrestrial observations. It all fits in one little bag so I really couldn't be happier. I would like to upgrade to a larger area, but for now this is enough. The camera attachment doesn't stay attached to the scope unaided when you add a camera to it as that makes it too heavy, but you can hold it and get a decent picture. My general opinion is that if you are on a tight budget you will probably be happy with this telescope, although you will be much happier with the Celestron Inspire 100AZ telescope if you can increase the purchase price. Note that this scope has gone up in price a lot, so the price on the map tends to vary depending on where you find it. Big stores have had this in the past too, so keep your eyes peeled.
