I have a laptop, a desktop and two monitors, two keyboards and two mice on a desk. I had to use both monitors for one computer, and sometimes another computer could use one monitor as well.1. Connect the cable from the common monitor to the I/O port of this unit2. Connect the cable to port A of this box and the other end to the laptop dock3. Connected a cable to port B of this box with my gaming desktop pc. Since I use a laptop dock, it can handle multiple monitors. I have a DVI cable that goes to a monitor and a VGA cable that goes through the monitor box to this shared monitor. Now I can use my laptop with both monitors for extra desk space while I work. When I want to use my gaming PC I switch to B and the shared monitor is now PC only. My laptop is still using a different DVI. Monitor. Hope everything makes sense. It worked right out of the box. Additional cables were not included, but I already had them from my monitors. I like this old school style switch box more than the newer push buttons because it feels like a real switch knob will last longer, even with daily replacements.
