These are great candles when you need a thin candle that fits in a narrow top vase or lantern. I've noticed some reviews being disappointed that the candles don't have a timer function as advertised. They do! The timer on the candle(s) is different than the timers on other flameless candles I've purchased, so I'm guessing this is an issue for those who have never seen this type of timer feature before. This is a button type and if you want the candle to "turn on" simply press the button once and do the same to turn it off. If you want the timer function to activate, you need to hold the button down until the candle "flashes" once, and then release the button. This activates the automatic 5-hour timer mode. I've been using mine for almost 3 months now and haven't had to change 2 "AA" batteries. One more thing. If you are sensitive to smell these candles repel the vanilla scent which is a bit obvious but after about 2 months the scent has faded and I don't notice it as strongly as when I first opened the box. It's not a bad smell and doesn't bother me, but if you're sensitive to smells you need to be aware of it. UPDATE: It's late January 2017 and these candles are still working great! I have several flameless candles on timers and these are my favorites.
