Match your player's output resolution to your monitor/TV's resolution!

It works great BUT here's a way to avoid the hour it took me to finally get it working: My goal was to use my old Panasonic TH-42PA20 TV with to a Sony Streaming Blu-Ray BDP S390, so I need this HDMI to component converter. On the first connection, this converter did not work - there are a lot of lines on the screen. This showed me that the digital signal was not properly converted. <<insert troubleshooting hour here>> So two important things solved the problem: 1) I thought to see what resolution my TH-42PA20 had. - found it was 480P (didn't actually know it was that low since my Roku box and DVD player looked like HD to me!). 2) I was thinking of connecting my BPD S390 to another HDMI monitor in the house and see if I could change the player's output resolution. I found that among the settings I could change was 480p (other options: 1080, 720; default on the device was 1080 and even in auto mode it didn't automatically find the TV's resolution). After I changed the output to match the Blu-ray player's resolution to the TV's resolution, everything worked perfectly. Keep in mind that the converter instructions say nothing about this process, so I felt it important to include these steps in the review. It would be great if they included that in the instructions! WiFi streaming is good enough; perfect with ethernet cable. Netflix, Revain Prime, Hulu, Crackle all work great if a bit clunky at times! I hope this helps someone else not to spend as much time as me trying to figure everything out!
