We bought the original Pawscout dog tag last year and loved it and just saw and bought this new 2.0 version and can't believe how cool it is. That's great! Since the hardware is basically the same (with some incredible improvements to the app), I'll take my original review and change it to reflect the new things we've discovered. The installation process was quick and even easier β it took us less than four minutes (including taking a photo, digital medical profile, and purchasing an additional $9.95 engraved name tag (in the app) to get rid of the second chunky metal tags could ). We watched some new short tutorial videos (my favorite type of tutorial) that told us everything we needed to know. The youngest son (when it's his turn to walk her) really does walk our dog rather than sit a block from our house playing on social media. We use the virtual leash outside when we are in the park and when we go hiking. (so we don't have to strain every second to watch it). It's really nice because when we go for a walk we often look at landscapes or cool plants/flowers and we don't like to be constantly nervous to make sure he doesn't walk too far. We learned from the video that the key to the missing pet is having other users in your community, so my wife and I emailed and called our friends and neighbors asking them to download the (free) app download and run. Basically, we've turned our entire neighborhood into a "pet-safe" zone, which we think is great. Our dog ran away twice and we were able to locate him on the Pawscout map within minutes (once literally in our backyard and once two blocks away). We appreciate the security of not having to pay monthly GPS fees (and the inconvenience of having to top it up every few days). For our cat, the virtual leash has turned out to be our favorite feature as she goes for walks outside during the day and doesn't always come at night when we call her for the first time. We can literally just walk out our front door, turn it on, and quickly find it if it's anywhere on (or near) our property (we've found it under our stairs or in the bushes multiple times in a matter of seconds!) Pawscout's community based, so the more people use the brand OR even download the free app, the safer our communities are for pets. So, even if you don't buy the tag (I recommend it), please do us all a favor and download the free app! (It has some cool features like thousands of pet friendly places even if you don't use the tag and they seem to be adding other cool features for all pet parents).
