Review on High Performance Submersible Aquarium Heater with Auto Thermostat & LED Temperature Display - Ideal for Fish Tank Water by Sarah Richards

Works 2 months

I ordered this heater for my 35 gallon bow tank. Based on my experience with this product, I would not recommend it to anyone who loves their aquarium and fish. I ordered this item on June 27, 2019 and it arrived the next day. I installed it the next morning so I could monitor the temperature throughout the day. This morning, August 19, 2019, I woke up to find that the heating had stopped working sometime during the night. Thank goodness the heater shut off and didn't overheat and all my fish were cooked when they failed. The heater only lasted 2 months. Immediately, the temperature at the outlet of the heater did not agree with the temperature control on the heater. I set it at 70F with the idea of gradually increasing the temperature to 75F. Went an hour later to check the temp and the tank thermometer read 76F and it was still heating up. I quickly turned the temperature dial until the light went out. At this point the temperature scale read 68F, but two separate thermometers (one of which was a digital thermometer that came with the kit) in my aquarium read 76F. Even in the basement where the aquarium is set up, I noticed slight temperature fluctuations of a few degrees, depending on the ambient temperature. This tells me it's not very efficient at temperature control. I wouldn't recommend this heater but if you do decide to buy one I would caution you to keep a close eye on the temperature and not rely on the control knob at the top.

Pros
  • FREE THERMOMETER: This aquarium heater comes with an optional thermometer that shows the exact temperature of the aquarium to avoid overheating or freezing. It provides a constant warm environment for your pet fish's health, suitable for both freshwater and saltwater.
Cons
  • Not the best
