I recently bought a Sony FMP-X10. Overall I am very happy with this item. Before I write the restrictions, let me say the following. Many in this forum swear by it. Do I have to remind her? We, the owners of 4K TVs, ARE THE FIRST RECIPIENTS. If you are a pioneer, you should expect that there are many things to improve. Here, now I'm out of the soapbox. I give this item 5 stars but I will definitely consider its strengths and weaknesses. Weaknesses: 1.) Download - If you want to watch a 4K film from the Sony Unlimited Store, you unfortunately have to download it first. Depending on how fast your internet connection is, you watch at least 90 minutes. So if you want to see a movie the same night you're interested, good luck! That being said, once you get used to it, it doesn't matter if you plan ahead. 2.) Lack of apps – As far as online content goes, the only choices are Sony 4K Store and Netflix streaming. If Sony wants to compete with Samsung and other smart TV apps, they need to do something drastic in that regard if you ask me. 3.) HDCP 2.2 - If your TV doesn't have an HDCP 2.2 HDMI input, you're in a fix. Luckily my Samsung TV has it. If you want to stream audio and video through the receiver at the same time, good luck! There is currently a SMALL handful of receivers that can handle HDCP 2.2. So if you don't have the money to burn, you'll be streaming video straight to the HDMI input on your HDCP 2.2-capable TV. In terms of audio, the FMPX-10 has a dedicated HDMI output on the back, providing high-quality audio processing for your receiver. I do have an open box of my own though, so if you're looking around and willing to go with a used or open box, you could save a lot of money here. 5.) Content cost is $8 to rent and $40 to purchase. Title. That's cool. More than most Blu-rays. Pros: 1.) It's a viable option for renting or buying 4K2 content.) It can stream 4K Netflix - a huge plus! 3.) This is the largest 4K catalog currently available for purchase or rent. 4.) It comes free with 1TB of onboard HD storage. In addition, you can easily connect an external drive via the USB port. 5.) Picture quality is excellent, although my Samsung UHD Video Pack looks better. 6.) This is currently the largest selection of famous 4K titles available. for rent or for sale (Ultraflix may have more, but no one has heard the names yet!)
