Rivet Nuts are very useful for securing removable items to thin substrates. I have used some on my farm cars. In order to get to the inner workings for repair or maintenance of machines, I usually have to remove the protective metal wall. When new, the panel is attached to the machine frame with self-tapping screws. Over time, the screw holes on the frame will enlarge and not be able to hold the screws and plate in place. In this case I installed rivet nuts and used bolts instead of self-tapping screws. I used the steel rivets that came with my tool, which unfortunately rust over time. I replace them with the stainless steel rivet nuts from this set. I've only made a few so far. Installed with no problems. These rivet nuts are made of 304 stainless steel which will rust over time. I wish they were 316 stainless steel. But 304 stainless steel nuts are still better than the regular steel nuts they replace.
