This is a great starter kit for young people or old aspiring artist because it contains many different materials that can be used. Watercolor pencils work great. Working with these pens requires more effort than ordinary colored pencils. There are only a few pieces in an interesting color scheme in the set. They sharpen perfectly, the included sharpeners work perfectly. Colored pencils are smooth, especially metallic ones, and fun to use. Regular rectangular pastels work great and the eraser works well with pastels. It comes with three different types of drawing tablets for different environments. One of my favorite things is a drawing tablet so I can draw on the couch and hold onto any paper. Markers are good than regular markers. However, these markers can also lose some of the felt or nib material as you use them. The carrier is great and goes with everything, even the extra things you might want to pack in. The only thing I would have liked differently would be if the pockets had elastic straps or something like that because the pens can lean outward and fall out if they get caught on something or you tip the carrier. Pastel pencils aren't the best. They aren't sharpened but if you try to sharpen them they keep breaking so you can't use them anyway. I was able to use them for a short time, but there are six of them in an unusual colourway. A plastic sharpener works better than a metal sharpener. The same goes for charcoal pencils. Other than the things I mentioned, I love this set.
