Review on TrickleStar 7 Outlet Advanced πŸ’‘ PowerStrip: Enhanced Protection, 1080 Joules, 3ft Cord by Charles Collier

Good but not perfect

Overall it does what it's supposed to do. In the time I've had a TV in the main slot (this is my audio receiver now) there hasn't been a premature shutdown as some have noted (I have a 2015 Insignia TV) and all outputs work as expected. That being said, if I need another APS I'll probably look elsewhere. First, all of the sockets are fairly close together, except for two at the end. Please note that if, like me, you need to plug a transformer or wide plug into the main slot, you automatically block a controlled outlet AND an always-on outlet. Since the top of the strip rolls towards the lighted and wired end, it also hinders the connection of the side transformer, which I had in mind when planning. Second, the strip makes a very noticeable popping noise when the controlled outputs are turned on or off, which is a bit alarming. Finally, I wish there was one master switch for the entire strip instead of separating it from the wall. The cord isn't long enough for my setup either, but I understand that this won't be a problem for most people as they place their entire AV setup right in front of a grounded outlet. All in all it's a good deal, but make sure you don't have to connect too many things or that you plan your connection setup carefully. EDIT: I found out that the popping noise is one of the devices being shut down, not the bar itself. The strip makes a faint noise, but it's barely noticeable. Changed from 3 stars to 4 but I still won't buy it again unless I have a setup with no transformers or wide plugs.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • There are flaws
