Review on πŸ”© Tough-Ball Mount RAP-B-379U-252025: Enhanced with 1/4"-20 x .25" Threaded Stud and B Size 1" Ball by RAM Mounts by Born Waheed

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Deceptive length is my only flexibility. Otherwise good for building camera systems

Ram mounts are good. I've been using 1" spheres and related parts daily for the past 3 years as a dashcam system and some other photo/video setups. If you're new to RAM and want to build a camera system and you haven't bought the pre-built ones that are available by just typing "RAM mount camera", congratulations on your perception. Buying the parts individually has some advantages, namely setup, but also some disadvantages (sometimes the price changes so that an option costs a few dollars more or less, and sometimes individual packages may or may not include the screws needed for the full installation the base required are the suction cup). You may also find that the balls come in a variety of sizes. Here I will talk about 1 inch. If you plan on connecting your RAM to your camera using regular 1/4-20 connectors (aka tripod screws on the bottom of the camera), you have 4 bullets to choose from (although only 3 of them are shown in my photo) 3 have plates of different sizes, and one of them has no plate at all. It depends on your camera which one is better and doesn't affect the necessary camera functions like power supply, battery, rotatable LCD screens, memory card slot, etc. It would be useful to be able to mount/remove the camera ball with a hex wrench/pliers as all other bases are round, although whether your needs and the camera can handle screwing the ball into the tripod hole is another story. Of course if you are building something else the hex shape can help with install/remove again. The real reason for this rating is the length of the hairpin, which many other reviewers claim, but there are a disappointing number of photos that actually show the length of the hairpin. and AMZ's new verification rules require verification before a photo can be posted, which makes uploading photos even slower for customers to get useful information, but yes, the hairpin length is much shorter than the photo shows. I would give this product more stars for being used in all other areas and especially for the patriotism of having RAMs made here in the US as this is a rare sight but misleading images versus my code. and 3/5 is so far, hasn't fixed it yet.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
