Very flexible. My iPad wobbles a lot with this mount. The reason is the extra length of this mount. We return to the metal base.

Nothing to say as it's a simple 1/4-20 ball mount. Feels durable and the rubberized finish helps keep your hand in place once without over-tightening.

. except that it does what a RAM mount does best. The threaded portion of mine is a little crooked, which is a minor complaint, but other than that I've never had a problem mounting RAM. Consistently good quality!

This Ram Tough Ball is no joke! I often have regular ram balls that warp if I really tighten them, but this one doesn't give up. Very hard ball, but still grippy like other ram balls. Works great for my application. I wish they would make all their mounts like this.

Looks good and says it has a stronger stainless steel mounting pin. Obviously it has a built in hex nut for tightening which is never a problem if you have RAM levers as you can always tighten one of those on the ball and use it as a lever to tighten the mounting bolt. The problem with this, I've found, is that it moves more like a bouncing rubber ball than my other RAM balls, which are balls on a metal rod. Overall I'm very happy with the RAM products but this one is an exception. The plastic hex flange breaks too easily and doesn't live up to RAM's reputation in my opinion. I'm glad the threads are actually rust free, but don't worry if the flange breaks because the entire ball head is now unusable. I didn't over tighten or overload the ball. Ram mounts are good. I've been using 1" spheres and related parts daily for the past 3 years as a dashcam system and some other photo/video setups. If you're new to RAM and want to build a camera system and you haven't bought the pre-built ones that are available by just typing "RAM mount camera", congratulations on your perception. Buying the parts individually has some advantages, namely setup, but also some disadvantages (sometimes the price changes so that an option costs a few dollars more
