Awning is awesome for my opinion

We purchased the Diensweek 15 x 10 awning and installed over our backyard deck. I would have liked to have more options on the color of the fabric, but Navy Blue was the only one available for this large size. Still we are pleased with the awning. After ordering, we were contacted with a shipping company and a schedule was set up to make sure we were at home when it arrived. The I choose was a Monday between 12 noon and 3 PM. The awning arrived at 2 PM - there were two employees who unloaded the awning and placed it on our deck. After unboxing the awning we found all instructions and included parts accounted for. There was one small dent in the rain cover, but it really is of no consequence and cannot be seen after mounting the awning. Except for the brackets and bolts, the unit is actually fully assembled and I found all of the fasteners tight. Our house has James Hardie siding over insulation board and wood framing. I was able to locate studs from the inside of the house and then measure from the windows to mark the siding on the outside. The brackets are very sturdy and mounting on the siding made leveling automatic. I used the included hex-lag bolts (2 per bracket - this unit has 3 brackets) and was able to hit all three studs making the mounting very secure. We used aircraft tie-downs to lift the awning up to the brackets and then into the slots in the brackets.I mounted this awning about 10 feet up on the side of our house above the deck, giving enough room for our dome-grill to work and not cause a smoke or heat problem - seems to work great. We will not use this when windy, but we have had it in the rain - no leaks. Changing the slope angle is fairly easy and we found that you can drop one side about an inch lower than the other and rain will simply drain off that side.I made a drill operated crank to open and close our awning. I never have used the manual crank that came with it.In bright sun with little breeze, I did read 120 degrees F shooting an IR temp sensor at the fabric. This would be a bit cooler with a different color ( lower solar absorptance optical property ). Since we mounted it high on the wall, it’s really not a problem and we use a floor fan when there is no breeze.

Pros
  • Better than expected
Cons
  • Potential difficulty with installation because of the sheer size and weight of the awning. Customers may find it challenging to set up the product on their own or find the necessary tools to do so
