First of all - these are my first "proper" padded cycling shorts and I just love them! Most of I do rides that I'm fine without, but I've found that the shorts definitely fit when riding uphill or test riding a singletrack! I'm 5'5", 135 lbs and quite an "athletic" build. I have a straight bust line to my hips which means I'm not very curvaceous at the waist. I have a fairly flat back and at 50 I am in good shape but have definitely lost some of my natural cushioning. Again, padded shorts definitely help a lot. I love them and am about to buy another pair. Okay, now it's just about the size chart and a variety of reviews ov sizes. Again, I'm petite, fit, and compact. My usual pant size is a 6, small but can vary by style and manufacturer. After LOTS of reading, reading, and re-reading, I settled on the medium size. The medium shorts are just perfect. They are neither tight nor loose. They cling to my skin, don't slip or clump, and I felt comfortable while riding. with the middle also in the 2nd pair. My "height" fluctuates throughout the month, so I don't want to have days where they shrink or bind. Again, you need to read the reviews carefully, but also consider your body shape and fit. I don't like tight clothes. I don't like feeling what I'm wearing! Ha! So, at 5'5" compact body with a toned / athletic build (I do yoga 1-2 times a week, ride 3-7 miles 2-3 times a week and walk about 2 miles a week), age 50 ( which means it's the effect of natural gravity there!), straight build without much waist bulge and moderate hips/back.I received the medium and am wearing my second pair in this size.
