Not only is it solar powered and can even be charged with lamps in very low light, but it also has a handle to power the radio, it also has a charger and space for a backup battery. The flash is bright and came in handy the other day when we had a power outage. We didn't get a chance to charge it so we just used the crank and my 6 year old set for 2 hours with the flashlight on because he was afraid that radio would save my sanity that night. It was also great because I could only keep my phone charged in case of inclement weather. What I liked best was the wide range because I could hear weather alerts near us and further away that could be getting closer! This bad boy is going to need a lot, I can tell you that! It's worth it.
