These walkie-talkies are a "good idea" if you have nostalgia for Thomas and friends, but that's about it. As soon as you turn them on, there's a constant static noise that doesn't go away or subside no matter what you do. The range isn't that great - from one end of the house to the other, and the purity of the voice is zero. My kids had more fun tapping the morse code button than chatting back and forth. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a set of walkie talkies that actually work.
