I was looking for an alternative to the "D" brand (I had two and both went from variable speed to single speed - very high), so I tried Maxman. When I was looking for a "mini grinder" I was surprised how few of them exist and some of the others are not "mini" at all. When I bought the Maxman I wasn't sure if it was worth the price (albeit a very reasonable one) but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I'm an engineer so I inspected the tooling and all the castings and moldings were finished well with quality tooling. The cable was soft and pliable, indicating a higher quality component. The controls were also very good quality. The pieces were well put together in terms of fit and finish. Maxman comes with a few accessories (including an extra set of brushes) and supports all the D accessories I already have. Having used it in several projects I'm still impressed. It seems a bit lacking in torque (I cut square steel tubing) but if you give it a little extra time it will get the job done. All in all a very good instrument at a very reasonable price.
