So I will support other people's concerns about the length of this probe. Like the others, spring was too long for me and it was MUCH crowded. Compared to my standard probe, it was about a quarter of an inch longer. However, attachment is fairly easy as the spring is held in my 1.5 hex head screw. I unscrewed it, removed the spring and measured a quarter inch, which was the gap the screw would be threaded through. I simply cut off the excess length, reinstalled the spring, measured against the standard block and tightened the screw. The oil level was read accurately afterwards, and it felt much safer to insert and remove compared to the OEM dipstick. Ironically, the same-length issue was a common complaint about the $70 Cravenspeed dipstick. In terms of build quality, this device makes a very well-made impression. It's functionally identical to the Cravenspeed, has the same spring type, a painted metal head with O-rings placed like the shaft, and a metal tip with 9 holes instead of 10 (I recalculated based on my video). This may bother some as the pictures show 10 holes. However, since this tip is already longer than the OEM one, I think reducing the number of holes is just common sense as it already gives you more level information than the OEM item, while reducing the chance of contact with the bottom of the pot . The whole assembly is a bit heavier than the original so you can just drop it into the pipe under gravity and maybe wiggle it slightly to work around the bends. Cravenspeed's price probe is completely useless. Clearly someone has done their homework on reverse engineering the Cravenspeed feeler gauge and while there seem to be some quality control issues related to spring length, Cravenspeed have multiple complaints of the same issue at more than double the price. While this item is mostly over the top, getting a 1.5" allen wrench, tape measure, and wire cutters costs a lot less than the price difference between this and a Cravenspeed probe. Oil dipstick, clean it, flush the oil level holes so you can see through it, then put it back in and remove it to see your oil level. Good: - Solid build quality - Fairly accurate replica of the Cravenspeed probe - Easy length adjustment - Easy to install and check - $24 vs $67 Bad: - Spring length quality control issues
