I got this lens after trying the Tamron 20mm 2.8 f/2 which was a good lens but wasn't as sharp as I did it would like, and a little wider than you would like it to be. After looking at the reviews I decided to pay the difference and upgrade to the Samyang 24mm F1.8. This lens is excellent. The autofocus was my biggest doubt because even though Samyang is known for their great optics, they are still working on autofocus bugs. I'm happy to say it's great, I'm sure my Sony 85 f1.8 is technically faster, but I can't say. Distortion is handled fairly well, which was another blow for the Tamron 20mm f2.8 1:2. I also like the extra button I use to switch to APS-c mode, which gives me 36mm at 19MP on my A7R3. I also used the lens dock to change the switch to AF/MF, the lens is more convenient to use and definitely added value. My only concern is that Lightroom doesn't have a lens profile yet, but hopefully one will soon. Nothing else in this price range even comes close. Of course, I'm sure the Sony 24mm f1.4GM is better, but given my budget and being just an amateur, I save $900.
