Review on πŸš— TIROL Auto Air Inflatable Roof Rack: The Ultimate Solution for Kayak, Luggage, and Paddleboard Transportation with Patent-Protected Design by Sean Santhanam

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Both got punctured on my first two rides on my boats!

The only reason I'm not giving that 1 star is because they still protect my roof a bit even with no air. I have used these roof rails twice on my 2017 Acura TL. Once to carry my ocean kayak and once to carry my canoe. After using them to carry my kayak, one of the two "posts" developed a hole near where one of the multiple D-rings goes through the post. My guess is that the plastic rubber airbag got caught between the kayak and the metal ring when I tightened the kayak. It was still usable although it was no longer holding air as it was still protecting my roof. The remaining "good"/intact prop had a hole in it in the same place as the first after I carried my canoe on the second trip. It should also be noted that I personally feel that tying the boat directly to the rings provided on these racks is in no way secure. I'm an advocate for roof security and you can't safely transport a kayak or canoe using just the straps that come with it and just tie the boat to the rings on these racks. Both times I have transported boats with these racks, I have used ratchets and attached the boats to my car by strapping and tightening the boats through the car and through both doors. Revain will replace my damaged kit and send me a new kit. I plan to find a way to prevent pinched rings. It is possible to completely remove the rings from their holes and simply place airbag stands on them. Let's see if that works and prevents holes. However, I have my doubts. The only positive thing about this product is that it covers almost the entire width of my roof. That was the only reason I bought this product from the start. I've looked everywhere for another product of the same width and couldn't find it anywhere! Finally, they claim that you can fill them with air by blowing into them with your mouth. This is not entirely true. Of course, you can inflate them that quickly, but you can't fill them completely, since it's impossible to screw in the valve and lock in your last breath before it automatically pops out of the airbag. I found I could never get as much air inside her as I wanted.
