Review on Say Goodbye to Flats with Stop Flats2 Road Bicycle Tire Liner! by Max Rosengren

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product, difficult installation for me

Bought as I had 2 apartments in 2 bike rides in my area. The streets seem dirtier than usual, with nails, glass and rubbish. A lot of companies make tire liners and they had good reviews so I gave them a try. The product itself has 5 stars - works as advertised and after numerous bike rides no flat tire for 2 weeks. The reason for the 4 star rating is that the installation was more difficult than expected. The liners tend to deflect more than 1 cm in any direction inside the tire even after careful alignment in the tire. I think there are a few fixes (not in the guide) that work for people having trouble. The first approach I've read online is to add a small amount of rubber glue to the tire to seal the sealant in place, just enough to keep it centered before installing the tube. The second approach I've read is to use an internal camera to hold the liner in place. I've used this second approach with limited success as most bikes require the tubes to be fairly flat when the tire is mounted onto the rim. Since the shims require inflated tubes to hold them in place and I had to flatten the tubes to get the tire in place, I wasn't sure if the shims were centered. I didn't have enough rubber glue to try a different approach, so I left the tires as is. So far I haven't had any other flat though, so maybe they were installed pretty much right in the middle. If anyone has any suggestions for installing earbuds, please let me know.
