Review on Samsung 27-inch LS27R750UENXZA 144Hz Monitor by Scott Byrd

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good monitor design, consistent VA panel quality

After reading many reviews and having a clear understanding of how the stand works, I bought this monitor. It's a 144Hz panel, but it didn't originally have Free-Sync support, making it unusable for a gaming application. However, the version I have must have a new update as it supports it. It would be nice if the power cable was matte so the display cable supports such a high refresh rate instead of HDMI. The rest of the features are good. I'm not an image editor, so I didn't check the color accuracy. The default settings must be adapted to the environment. I set the brightness to 10/100 because I'm working in a dark room. The stand is the reason to get this monitor and it works great. Durable and stable. If you have the right table, great. I didn't need the rotate function, so I don't care about the off-center image quality. The screen is big enough as it sits 3 feet away. I don't think I'm dealing with the 32 inch 4k version. It would be too big for such a close range. PROBLEM: The first screen I received had over a dozen dead/gray/bright/stuck pixels spread across three areas of the screen. I liked the screen so I ordered a replacement from Revain. The replacement, while not as bad as the original, has the same dead pixel issues. There are fewer of them this time, but they're still in two different places and with at least one stuck pixel. I went to my local best seller store and checked their displays and they all seem to have at least a few dead pixels. I don't know if cf. the consumer doesn't know how to check this defect or doesn't care enough to report it. my own blacklist on Amazon) or simply accept these defects as manufacturing defects. Mind you, I tried calling Samsung support to see what they had to say. They have refused to state their dead pixel policy, unlike Dell and Viewsonic who clearly say it is zero. They wanted me to come back when it was at the depot for repairs so a tech could inspect it. It's not worth my trouble. I paid less than $300 for this product so maybe it's not such a bad deal.
