Review on VINCI Bang Dice Game by Christopher Jackson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fast and funny spaghetti western with interesting features.

I am a "gamer" in my girlfriend's family. I always bring new games to try when we all get together. When I heard about this game, I had a feeling it would do well. I was not disappointed. Rolling dice and shooting at other players is fun. If that was all you did I would still consider it a pretty fun game. What this really brings home are the roles each person has. One person is the sheriff, and depending on the number of players, there are varying numbers of deputies, outlaws, and renegades. The sheriff tries to be the last survivor (if he can keep the deputy alive, that's fine, but both win even if the deputy dies and the sheriff is the only survivor). The criminals will win if they kill the sheriff before everyone turns to dust. The renegade wants to kill the sheriff, but only after the criminals are eliminated. So the outlaws shoot the sheriff and the deputy, the sheriff and the deputy try to take out the outlaws and the renegade, and the renegades try to kill everyone. Turn? The only role whose identity is revealed is that of sheriff. The rest is a secret. So do you shoot the deputy or the criminal? You have to figure it out as you play what a great time is. I was a renegade in my first game, but the sheriff convinced me I was a deputy. His face exposing my betrayal was priceless. In addition to the roles, the game has characters that give each player unique abilities. This adds another little twist and a little more depth to the game. If you have a group of 5-8 friends to get together and play this game, I highly recommend buying it. The dice are fun to roll, the easy social inference from the hidden roles is a great feature, and the character abilities add a bit of light strategy.
