Sweet little wooden kit

I bought this for my daughter who is old enough to appreciate a somewhat nicer set than the cheesy plastic one we'd had. Pieces all fit into the moulding, bases are felted and magnetic so as not to jostle. Construction is pretty nice; nothing fancy but looks good and is functional. Great little family board.

Great product and Excellent Customer Service!

Most of the time, all it takes to be a satisfied customer is to have an excellent customer service! We bought our chess board and a few months later the screws came loose, we tried to fix and but it would break again. So I called the customer service and they shipped me a brand new one. Thank you very much! I am a very satisfied customer, great products too!

Some black residue.yes. But easily removed and set is wonderful! Great purchase!

Ok, so I had read some of the reviews that a few of the white pieces had black residue from the foam piece holders. My son and I pulled all of the pieces out and the white rooks did, in fact, have black residue on them. We used some simple cleaning spray and a soft cotton cloth to remove it. Presto, perfect rooks with no residue. The craftsmanship is great and we really love this chess set. We look forward to taking it to the park to play a game. The magnets work perfectly. Great purchase!

Poor Quality Control but Excellent Customer Service

UPDATE:The Co-Founder of the company contacted me after I emailed them about my concerns. They promptly issued me a refund. I was open to a replacement provided the quality was as expected. Great beginner set best in my review

This is a perfect beginner set. The magnets keep the pieces together and the case is great. The one star off is because the board itself is not flat it bows in the middle.

Nice quality: my feedback

My teen son asked for this and really likes it. I wish it had a handle, but I can see how that would be hard to design. It's a nice size and the wooden, magnetic pieces are also of good quality. The pieces fit well inside the custom foam holder inside the folded board. I'm sure this will last for him to take it to college, so a good purchase!

Not worth what they are charging

Over-priced and under quality. This would be a great chess set for 15 or 20 dollars, but at 47.99 it does not meet expectations. The board is made of a low quality wood, was not well sanded on the outside, and was not coated at all. It’s raw cheap wood. The pieces have a good weight to them, but the white pieces especially were rough and some were stained with black splotches by the foam inside the board.Overall the set is not bad, I like the way the pieces are stored, the weight if the pieces,

Great Chess Set - my new review

Have had much fun with it already . very good quality and well packed . love the magnetic . without it the cat would have had the pieces on the floor by now . its not overly magnetic or anything . but just enough to make for a nice feel and keeps things in place when the cat decides to inspect . ;) If the peices to get moved they kind of connect to other pieces so they dont end up gone .

Noticeable scratches and damages

I'm ok with minor imperfections but there were highly noticeable scatches on the board and pieces. One of the corners were kinda round or "smashed" probably during shipping. And there is a very noticeable green mark smack in the middle of the board. It feel like a received a damaged product. If it weren't for these damages it would have 5 stars.

Ok for beginners in my review

Looks can be deceiving. It's pretty poor quality. I mean it's very rough and basic. If you want a high quality durable clean set, you're gonna have to pay at least $400. I got a set from House of Staunton.the "Reykjavik " model (same design used by Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky) and it is absolutely amazing. Just FYI.

Good quality for the price.

Chess pieces are generically and quickly carved with little detail but they do the trick. The board is higher quality than the pieces themselves, it seems very nice for the money. Overall I'm happy with the board, I like how it's self containing, I would buy it again for a gift.

A good beginners chess set

Liked the storage part of the case. Pre cut to match each chess piece. Magnetic pieces were a plus. Was a Xmas gift. The set may not be suitable for people with sensory processing disorders!
