I bought this for my father's birthday. Originally, they sent the board with a few missing pieces, and it was the wrong color. When I informed them of this, they were very helpful right away. They offered to send me a full set of replacement pieces or to send me a full new chess set with the original color I wanted. I liked that it was an impressive gift - heavy, pretty, nice case, had a great wow factor. But then when we actually played, it became very obvious that the very subtle distinctions between the pawns and bishops, as well as the queens and rooks, was very problematic. Maybe for the young folk who don’t need glasses, lol, but for a couple in our late 40s/early 50s who wear glasses to maybe drive or watch a movie - we don’t usually need them for chess! My son and I love this. Pieces are sturdy. The carrying case is beautiful and heavy duty There is NO WAY anything will be damaged during travel! VERY HEAVY board with felt on the bottom. I'm learning to play chess, and my husband (and teacher) wanted a nicer set for me to learn on. This one is beautiful and has a great carry case, which is important since we travel. The only issue we had was that the Queens and the Rooks look quite a bit alike. We used a sharpie to draw a circle in the Queens' crowns, and that solved the problem, which might not have been a problem for a long-time player. I am so impressed with this company. I received a beautiful chess set, however I to one too many rooks and no queen. I informed them of the issue and immediately received a response on the steps to take to return the set and receive a new one. The new set came within a few days and the old set sent back. Stained and used Blue cloth case came with a chess set. Sent an email to customer service. Hopefully they replace the case. But a Nice chess set with a board. If they don’t replace the case we will return.

I bought this gift not at all concerned with the expensive cost, rather, as a gift that my son-in-law could have and use and hand down to his child. When he opened the storage box for the chess pieces, the padded lining fell completely out. The adhesive failed and it it dropped to the ground when opened. Can you imagine the embarrassment and disappointment?Nothing else need be stated.

This chess set is beautiful (see photo where we have set it up on a glass-top coffee table). The pieces are solid. The board is almost too heavy to lift with one hand! Definitely a high quality product. The first delivery was missing a few pieces due to no fault of the seller. The seller immediately had replacements delivered direct from overseas.

The chess set is beautiful. I love alabaster and this set displays the qualities of the stone beautifully. I would give 6 stars if I could because of the customer service. There was a small problem and they handled it in a BIG way, very promptly and "above and beyond." So you can buy with confidence.After seeing some other comments being critical of the box, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it doesn't have the beauty of alabaster (you wouldn't want it that heavy!), but it's fine.

The chess set arrived within just a few days after the order was placed. It is beautifully hand carved in green and white onyx marble and a joy to look at, not to mention how much we will enjoy playing with this exceptional chess set - a work of art, really. We were all impressed by the careful packing and also by the beautiful carrying case. The set is a gift for my 7 year old chess playing Grandson and it was worth every penny to see his eyes light up as he unpacked the set.

You can tell the pieces are hand crafted, and they look amazing. I had a small problem with my order, customer service responded immediately and sent me an entire new chess set (which wasn't necessary, but greatly appreciated).Amazing company.

This is a beautiful chess set! I was hesitant to buy it online sight unseen but the pictures were very clear and accurate. The pieces are nicely weighted and wonderfully carved. The board itself is hefty and has beautifully inlaid squares. The box for the pieces is nicely lined with velvet and hold the pieces well.I highly recommend this set.

Great decor chess set. Not too big, but very playable. Package arrived well packed with no damage. The board is heavy and the weight of the pieces feel good when playing. For the money, I do wish some of the pieces were a little more detailed. The bishops and the pawns are easily mistaken for each other in games. The queens are very similar to the rooks but are big enough not to confuse them. I will probably use a paint pen to mark tops of some pieces to help with playability. I do wish the set

A chess set is probably not for everyone, but this turned out to be a splendid birthday present for an old friend. However, I ended up spending the afternoon playing chess with his sons and didn't get much birthday cake.

This is one of the best chess sets I have ever gazed upon. Absolutely beautiful. I gave to my husband as a holiday gift and he absolutely loves it. If you play chess, or you just want to look at beautiful craftsmanship, this is the set for you!

I love the quality but it's not the color I ordered, I ordered the white and onyx 16 inch. I would prefer the white and onyx 16 inch.
