I liked that it was an impressive gift - heavy, pretty, nice case, had a great wow factor. But then when we actually played, it became very obvious that the very subtle distinctions between the pawns and bishops, as well as the queens and rooks, was very problematic. Maybe for the young folk who don’t need glasses, lol, but for a couple in our late 40s/early 50s who wear glasses to maybe drive or watch a movie - we don’t usually need them for chess! We had to take a black marker to these beautiful pieces just so we could distinguish between them better. With more detail on the bishops and queens, this set would be a lot better!
