Vidbox converter and software work great. I have converted over twenty 8mm Hi-8 videocassettes. The quality is excellent and I haven't had a single problem. Installing software on my Macbook Pro is easy and convenient. No mistakes. Connecting the Vidbox hardware interface (the little white box) to the 8mm player and Macbook was easy. I am using an SVideo connection from a Hi8 player to transmit higher quality video. The average file size for a 120 minute 8mm tape is between 5 and 5.5 gigabytes. The MP4 format plays well on my Apple and Windows devices. I'm a Nero Platinum user and I use their Recode tool to edit the "main" video file chapter by chapter for review. The free version of Handbrake does the same thing, but since I have Nero I'll use that. When I play the finished video files on my computer or 4K HDTV, the picture quality is excellent - for a legacy video recording. The original camcorder recorded stereo sound, which was preserved during the conversion process. I've tried two other "reviewed" products but they don't match the quality and ease of use of Vidbox. There are better and more expensive solutions, but I went with this one to get the job done. I still have about 20 tapes to convert. I just hope the old 8mm player holds up.
