Review on πŸ”§ TEKTON 18mm Ratcheting Combination Wrench - WRN53118 by Doug Hawkins

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Inferior to a regular non-ratchet crescent wrench

I bought this wrench to tighten the chain on my fixed wheel bike. To do this, tighten and loosen the two nuts by 15 mm. When tension is applied above a certain threshold, the ratchet will slip. This renders the ratchet end of the wrench - wait - completely useless. Again using the traditional crescent end of the wrench to tighten the nuts all the way down, I thought how ridiculous it was to pay for what was essentially a single ended crescent wrench. I'm not sure if the product I received is defective as the ratchet worked up to a point. I do not recommend this product unless you are absolutely certain that you will never need anything *very* tight. If you plan on using this tool for all potential 15mm applications (I'd say the tool should work!) then just grab a straight crescent wrench and skip the ratchet. It's not convenient, it's a pity.

Pros
  • 6 point socket fits snugly in the hex heads of the fasteners and prevents slipping during use
Cons
  • Very expensive
