Part of my 10 speed OLD Schwinn World rebuild came with new brake pads. This old bike used old horseshoe calipers and because of the difference between the caliper angle and the rim angle I had to be able to match the camber to the contact area between the brake and the rim. While the final pad setting did not make 100% contact with the rim, it did provide near-perfect brake-rim contact to ensure a secure and stable fit. By using a thinner shim between the caliper and pad I got a very good final assembly. IMPORTANT: As my restoration included all new brake and shifter cables, I MUST FIRST adjust these pads as the final "released brake position" for the existing brake cable where the brake cable is attached with a compression nut should be slightly longer - more Clearance when releasing the brakes. It is best to assemble the parts first and then swap the cables.
