Be very careful when installing them.

I had my worst time getting a set of these for a cheap bike repair at a department store. During installation, I noticed again and again that the shoulder of the threaded bolt (on the back of the rubber brake pad) was loosening and the pad was dangling a lot despite the screw being tightened correctly. I was given one of the four sets to work with and finished the job. I am puzzled by how different my experience with this product is from other reviewers. I consider myself a little better than a

Poor Quality/Poor Performance

I guess it's the old saying "you get what you pay for". It was immediately apparent that these pads were of poor quality. Poor processing of the casting, the contact surfaces of the rim were not flat but curved, the processing and quality of the fittings indicated a low-budget product. I even had to use older, thinner washers because the length of the bolt was too short to make enough contact with the nut. And the most important? How have the brake pads proven themselves? The brake pads didn't…

These things suck, don't buy them.

I always love to look for little gems as I was hoping it was for the bike repairs I'm giving away. However, it is not a jewel. Usually, when tightening the pad, you hold the pad with one hand to keep it from twisting when tightening. If these posts are actually twisted in the pillow, allowing the pillow to twist and turn, there isn't enough floor to stabilize the pillow. This means that even successfully installed ones, given sufficient use and long before the pads wear out, will fail. If you…

Wow. no matter.

I have driven my Giant Escape 2 almost 2000 miles in the last 4 years and almost 1500 miles in the last 4 months. It was like a gas lighter. I could tell the brakes were getting worse, but it was so slow I just had to put up with it. One day the rear brake pads started to grind and after a quick inspection I found they were worn down to the metal. Oops. So I found this amazing pack of brake pads at a great price and decided to give it a try. The pads looked a bit longer than my bike, but I was…

CAP WASHERS = RIGHT MOUNTING ANGLE = BIG BRAKES

Part of my 10 speed OLD Schwinn World rebuild came with new brake pads. This old bike used old horseshoe calipers and because of the difference between the caliper angle and the rim angle I had to be able to match the camber to the contact area between the brake and the rim. While the final pad setting did not make 100% contact with the rim, it did provide near-perfect brake-rim contact to ensure a secure and stable fit. By using a thinner shim between the caliper and pad I got a very good…

Pretty decent price

These pads are fine. They don't squeak, which was almost as important to me as their actual stopping power. The OEM brakes on my bike, especially the front, squeaked so loud it was embarrassing, so I'm glad I fixed this issue. In terms of performance, I think they're okay. Admittedly I don't have much to compare but my impression of these pads is that they would work better if the rubber was a bit more resilient. In any case, the rubber of the brake pad surface is hard, almost so hard that it…
