I had a scratch on my windshield which appeared to be caused by the wiper arm (not a blade) being scratched on it. Not as bad as it sounds but it was a hairline scratch I can feel with my fingernail. A bit of cerium oxide, some glass polishing pads, my trusty double-action polishing machine, and within an hour the scratch was completely gone. If the cerium oxide mixture gets splattered all over the place during polishing it can get messy so make sure you tape/tap EVERYTHING around the windshield. Also, cerium oxide doesn't break down as easily as car polish, so you don't have to add more after it dries. Just add a little water to what's already on the windshield from time to time to re-wet the mixture.
