I had previously bought a set of tambourine needles which takes some practice so thought I might give this product a try. I received the item and found that the body is flat unlike my old needle which has a round body like regular crochet hooks. I put it in my wooden handle and it worked great. He didn't speak while I was working with him. It is very easy to use compared to those without a latch. I am certainly not suggesting that the more traditional non-retainer needles are not preferred. But this one I think is much better suited for crafters like me who just wanted to beadwork without much practice.
