Still looking for the best

This is one of those products where the good is really good and the bad is so bad you want to beat the designer. The important part, the magnifying section with light is good. This is the best I've found with the widest field of view. But the base is HEAVY. Too heavy to move with one hand. So heavy that the light swings from the top one way and the base swings the other. I keep it next to my sewing machine so I can do any manual work with it. But the top part will not be stable at all, it will wobble because there is no way to stabilize it. There is a screw and plastic ring to tighten, but they don't work at all. The screw doesn't hold the height, and neither does the plastic piece that needs to be tightened to keep it in place. Drives me crazy because the magnifying glass is good. Too heavy to return but sometimes I just want to throw this thing out the window. I also asked my engineer husband to fix it but he couldn't do anything because of the bad design. There's no reason this base should be that heavy. Right now, when not in use, the top swings in the opposite direction of the light, causing it to tip over. If they could get the two screw levers to work, he might have a chance.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • flimsy
