Review on πŸ“· Jobu Design Heavy Duty MK IV Gimbal Head: Unmatched Stability for 25 Lbs Load Capacity by Crystal Garcia

You won't find a better stabilizer anywhere

After much searching I ordered this stabilizer and it arrived in less than a week. It mounts easily to my level with the screws provided. I mounted it with my camera and a 300mm lens, marked the Swiss-style Arca Kiwi plate at the balance point, and centered the lens mount on the horizontal axis. All adjustments were easy and very positive. Moving the lens and camera is almost effortless, and the camera will bounce up and down several times if the friction brake is not lightly applied. Rocking is almost effortless. When deployed in the field, a weight of one kg is welcome and the designers have achieved a weight reduction over the previous version by removing unnecessary material from the components, keeping them stiff and strong. The fit and finish is exceptional and as far as I can tell there are no tool marks anywhere on the head. The head is designed to be maintenance free and I can't imagine wearing it with those bearings and tolerances. There is no play in the head in any direction, no flexing in any direction, and all the sliders and knobs are very smooth. The voltage setting is very positive and graduated, tighter is tighter in range, not just on and off, and when voltage is applied it can be adjusted to the level desired by the user and stays that way. I like it too. This gimbal allows you to mount a full-size DSLR with an Arca-Swiss style plate attached, allowing it to be used in environments where a huge telephoto lens doesn't need to be balanced, leaving enough room to access the camera and lightning cable to connect, or external shutter switch. Ball heads are fine, but a ball head allows for the same positive control movements of camera and lens positioning.

Pros
  • Fits lenses and cameras up to 15lbs
Cons
  • I'll write back
