Review on GlobalSat BR 355S4 GPS Receiver Black by Joe Stax

Update: 3 stars overall for erratic output and cost. Soldering and cables do not guarantee a 3x increase in the price of bare-clone modules, especially with the unstable output signal below. Fixed cold start in less than 2 minutes but requires level conversion, the output is not ttl it's RS232 which is inverted and the voltage on mine is -4.5v to +7.7v. Added converter but then was able to not be remedied. There are 12 ships in sight but RMC status is V (nav rcvr warning). When power is restored after >12 hours of power failure, the device will lock, RMC V-Status will reset and position will be reported. Note. GPRMC messages are fairly regular and jerky, which makes using the GPS as a watch with seconds display a bit problematic. The pattern is approximately 1100ms, 300ms, 800, 800, 800 and then repeats. It's not a polling artifact, nor is it a problem with $10 bare GPS modules.
