Bought to add a Samsung 960 EVO to my aging PC. My phone is the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 which I bought in 2012. I put the SSD in the adapter and connected it to a free PCIe x4 slot. Windows 10 recognized the drive immediately. I formatted it and moved my Steam library there. Games like DayZ and Arma 3, which take a lot of disk usage, have been greatly improved without any other hardware changes. The loading time of the game is very fast. I haven't done a performance test yet. Will update if/when I do. BTW, my BIOS is too old to recognize PCIe drives, so I couldn't get Windows to boot even after cloning my boot drive. If you have a UEFI system, you'll probably have better luck.
