Review on Enhance Your Desktop's Connectivity with the Belkin F5D8000 Wireless Pre-N Network Card by Giles Lacoste

This card is the first wireless device I've ever purchased without a visible antenna and was concerned about performance. My fears were not justified, this card offers a much better reception than the LinkSys with a large antenna that I replaced. Installation is quick and easy if you don't make my mistake. I plugged the module into the board the wrong way round and it just doesn't work. When the card is inserted into my computer, the result shows that the indicator on top of the module is pointing down instead of up. I set it up and just couldn't get it to work with the backlight as shown. So I called Belkin Technical Support and got a very nice English speaking support rep very quickly. but we couldn't figure out what was going on until the guy next to him yelled that he flipped it. After that it worked like clockwork. Better coverage and faster than the LinkSys it replaced. I don't know how this device works with other routers, but I would be careful. But if you have both a Belkin Pre-N router and this network adapter, they'll work better in your home than later devices, as long as you don't have more than 3 users at a time. Great coverage, very good speed but questionable compatibility make a good buy if you can grab these devices before they disappear.
