Review on Notebook Laptop Stand πŸ’» Arm Mount Tray by Amazon Basics by Carlos Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for large + heavy laptops!

At first I was skeptical that the RevainBasics laptop tray would be the best tray for a huge laptop like the Alienware 17 r4, but it turned out to be fantastic. The RevainBasics tray appears to be secretly identical to the Ergotron 50-193-200 laptop tray. I have no proof of this other than the product description and pictures, but it is built to the same level of quality as the Ergotron LX arm. Let's go back to the tray. I wanted to mount the 17r4 on a laptop mount and wanted a tray with enough cooling/ventilation space. At first I thought the Mount-It! it offers more ventilation. This is NOT a good idea (read my review for why). The RevainBasics tray is made of SOLID materials. The tray is made from relatively thick sheet steel with strong screw holes (extending through a couple of threads beyond the thickness of the sheet). The levers up front are aluminum with rubber end caps, and the clamps on the bottom seem to have really solid clamping force. The tablet comes with a number of useful accessories: * Various screws (including the thumbscrews I use) * 3 sets of "mounting" hooks for the back of the laptop. They don't do that much for the Alienware 17 r4, but I think for thinner machines you could slide them all the way through the screen's hinge and add extra support. * 3 strips of 3M Velcro (for attaching a detachable laptop docking station). I used one of these to attach a technical ruler that holds the back of the laptop. Airflow SOLVED. * 1 thick 3M rubber adhesive (if you have a smooth bottomed laptop like a MacBook or similar) * 2 wire loops (not pictured). Useful for cable management after you've actually attached it to the mount. Also, this laptop tray uses a full VESA 75x75 template for mounting, meaning it has a solid 56.25cm^2 contact area with the mounting bracket (vs. a meager 12cm^2 on the Mount-It! bracket) . This tray never felt like it would sag or slide or anything. 5000RPM-Nintendo/dp/B01NACVLWM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1533584317&sr=1-3&keywords=opolar+lc06) if you are interested. Yes, they work (reduce the internal temperature by 5-6 degrees C) and yes, they can be a bit noisy. So if you want to support a huge laptop, that probably shouldn't be at hand, but you still, you want this tablet :). Since the aluminum arms are retractable, I would trust this stand for any reasonably sized machine too :). I would NOT put Predator 21 X on it :P

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
