Save yourself the headache and find another 3D printer

It is with great regret that I am writing this review. I think this is only the second negative review I have ever left on a product and I make most of my purchases from Revain. It was originally my husband's most important Christmas present. We only tried it after the holidays. The main thing we want is to print our own cookie cutters. The first device we received connected to the software immediately. I was able to successfully get it to heat up, load material and level the bed. When I tried to load the STL file for cutting and printing, the device lost connection to the laptop. All the lights went out and it turned out that there was no power and it was no longer connected via the software. I called their tech support before they opened as I am CST and they are on PST. I wasn't called back until 4:00pm CST. The tech sold me the unit that was having the most problems and to return it to Revain they would get another one on the road straight away. We got a second one and again it loaded and leveled just fine. This time he started to print and the software showed he was printing, but after an hour and by the time the print was 40% complete, there was no material on the platform. I stopped printing in the software and tried restarting it. When I reloaded the printable file, I noticed that the printer connection was broken again and the first scenario repeated itself. Both times I tried restarting the machine using the reset tool. I'm not a mannequin. I have a masters degree in computer science. These printers are shipped without useful settings, instruction manuals or manuals. Nothing included, nothing online and no YouTube videos. The Apple and Android software they claim you can download to your phone doesn't exist. The Moira software is mentioned in Chinese. I'm sending my second device back tomorrow. If all you have in life is to add to the frustration, don't buy this printer. Don't expose yourself to the 3 week aggravation we were dealing with. What could have been a fun experience turned into a nightmare and disappointment. When I spoke to their technician, he wasn't exactly thrilled about how he might be able to get operating documentation and how-to videos any time soon. I will be happy to update my review if the company contacts me and corrects this situation. We replaced them with Qidi Maker-X, which came out of the box with great setup and tutorial documentation. We are on our 3rd spool and not a single issue or disappointment. It even had a built-in camera to monitor prints. Worth the extra $50.

Pros
  • Excellent print quality: smooth, precise, high resolution
Cons
  • High price
