Yesterday I received a new NT510 unit from Revain and today I tried to use it to read and clear the ABS code on my 1999 BMW 528i Touring. Out of the box, the device couldn't automatically determine the VIN, so I entered the VIN manually. Once this was done the unit ran an "auto scan" which was 100% complete but only listed two control units, the engine's DME transmission systems and EGS/AGS/SMG. The device has successfully established communication since I was able to read the fitting data from the transmitter module. He did not find any other control units. Even though I performed an automatic scan and saved the vehicle, including giving it a name etc., the device failed to save the vehicle profile. I tried to view the modules directly and got a "unable to communicate" error with all other devices in the car. Thinking the software might be outdated I went to the website and created a Foxwell userid and password which he immediately sent a confirmation email to and the account was created. Then I downloaded the Foxscanner app. - Pro Tip - For some reason, when asked where to install the app, it defaults to the D: drive - you'll probably want to click the arrow to the right of it and navigate to a new location like CApplications. In any case, choose a location that actually exists on your computer. Then I registered my device (NOTE: For those who do - after entering the device registration software you will need a serial number (printed on the back of the device) and a preset (not user created) password in the SOFTWARE DEVICES (see the SETUP menu then go to the ABOUT icon and it will show what you need) I updated the software (the easiest way to do this is to turn off the device, insert the SD Insert the card into your laptop's card reader or SD slot and once Windows sees it you need to CLOSE the Foxscanner app and then restart it, after this the cards will be listed and available updates will be displayed I have updated the software/database and have the went through the whole process again and tried reading/clearing codes on my machine. The results were identical, although the software is clearly akt has been updated, so since there were MANY more modules listed in my car (which the scanner still can't communicate with), I've sent this information to the Revain seller and via the in-app problem report and will revise my review when they respond with a solution. Otherwise the thing will come back tomorrow. However, at this point I would give 1 star to every BMW E39 series owner. Overall it seems this could be a decent option if you're tech savvy and the device actually communicates with your car. The device looks well built, but the instructions are sketchy and you'll have to figure it out a bit. The device itself appears to be quite well built, with reinforcements at the cable connections and a comfortable rubber/plastic body. I also tried the Bluedriver which was very easy to use and set up but was incorrectly advertised as being able to read ABS codes and the Harbor Freight unit which had similar set up issues and then their tech support team later admitted that they simply had not applied for this vehicle model. Back to the drawing board for me - I hope this information helps anyone purchasing this device.
