Review on General Tools 92 Swivel Head by Jay Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good tool for the price.

Reversible chuck has a side for tiny drill bits (< 1/16 inch or so with slightly curved teeth) and is reversible; the other side seems to take something like that. With a Dremel(TM) drill bit, I've had some trouble tightening the bits enough to work with harder material than say balsa. The jagged surface is quite rough - rougher I would say would improve grip and blistering in the early range if you use it very often. It's well built and the wheel on the end spins freely which eases my pet annoyance. Basically a reliable tool LATER: I'm stupid and didn't realize that these vises are double-ended - they have 2 double-ended chucks that grip bits ranging from tiny to about 1/8 inch or a bit larger. The rotating end cap at the tip of the drill doesn't spin as smoothly, so I found a second set of cartridges when the rear end came loose while drilling the hole. So I desperately add that this tool is solid for the most part, with the caveat that, like many similar tools, the rotating end cap could be smoother. However, pulling out and adding graphite made it a little better and I am now completely satisfied.

Pros
  • Exceptional pin vise for precision work on models, tools and jewelry
Cons
  • Something different
