I ordered two of these lamps a few weeks apart and received two similar but not identical lamps. Both were well packaged, had no scratches or paint chips. The difference in the lamps was how the fixture was attached: one had fixing screws on the side of the base (this didn't stay straight when the base detached from the wall and the fixture tilted (hence the three stars), while the other had fixing screws and Nuts on the front of the base.This lamp with mounting screws perpendicular to the wall was easy to install and stayed level when adjusted in height.The second lamp would be a five star lamp except the counterpoise was too bright to keep the lamp on all night to keep it in that position. If I adjusted the height of the lamp in the evening, it was completely lowered in the morning. A few quick measurements revealed the problem: the lampshade, LED lamp and socket weigh about 420 grams, while the counterweight bracket and pulley weigh about 295 g In order to balance the counterweight, the weight of the lamp and lampshade should be about twice as it is made by two ropes is carried, while lamp and lampshade are carried by only one rope (simple mechanics) . But if the equal-sized counterweight were made of steel or zinc instead of aluminum alloy, the lamp would be balanced and able to hold its height wherever it was placed. I replaced the steel shade with an aluminum shade and rebalanced the lamp, now it stays in place wherever I put it. Pros: interesting looks and reasonable function (when modified). Cons: Some models do not stay level and both models do not maintain their height adjustment without modification.
