Review on Bilstein 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber (24-026758): Ultimate Damping Solution by Jeff Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wonderful ! -- used on 2002 Toyota Tacoma Extra Cab 2wd 4-cylinder

My mechanic (and friend) recommends KYB (Japan) and Bilstein (Germany) shock absorbers. Apparently my Tacoma came with KYB shocks from the factory. The reviews said I should go with KYB if I want Original Equipment dampers. If you need a stronger shock absorber, go for Bilstein. I chose Bilstein. You are wonderful! Compared to KYBs, Bilsteins are a little springier when not being towed, but when loaded, Bilsteins are better. For me, the tighter (but still controlled) Bilstein handling doesn't bother me. if not towed. But in tow (even with a light load) the Bilsteins deliver really great control and a nifty ride. Bilsteins cost only slightly more than KYBs and you can't go wrong with either in my opinion.
