I'm confused by the negative reviews on this radio. This is a cheap portable radio. It was designed with low cost, portability and great battery life in mind - scoring 10/10 on all three. The sound quality is really very good for a mono radio - more than satisfactory for me - and despite analogue tuning, it's easy for me to scroll through the bands to search for stations. In fact, I bought an extra one for my blind friend precisely because the radio is so easy to use, with few controls and no secrets. If I had one criticism it would be that AM and shortwave radio reception is a little harsh, making weak stations difficult to pick up. That wouldn't be my first choice for shortwave radio. For strong reception of AM and FM stations (and even mid-power stations) I think this is excellent, and weather reception on a cheap analog radio like this is a huge bonus. Don't buy it as your main radio, use it during power outages, camping, traveling and anywhere you don't want to risk your expensive radio but still want flexibility. I would buy another one in a heartbeat if mine goes away.
