Looking for a good portable radio? That's it.

This is a nice little radio. The sound quality is really good and it picks up stations well. With 3D batteries it should last as long as they claim which is a big plus. Update: Hubby takes this to the lake when he goes fishing. This is the first radio he gets really well on the lake. (he had a few) He says the sound is really, really, really good and he's very happy with it.

Great budget radio - portable audio and video player

I bought this for my father who lives in rural Montana. TV and Internet are not available to him, so radio is important. I bought this radio with some skepticism due to its price but it exceeds the price paid. The range is fantastic and it can tune stations much further than we could with the old radio shop that eventually broke down. He uses it day and night and uses the same batteries that were put in the day he received it. The sound quality is good and the volume is enough to use it when…

Serious VHF reception.

The super affordable Kaito KA390 offers serious FM reception along with decent AM performance. NOAA weather bands and an LED display are among the features of this handheld radio. Just shop! Find my name and radio model number on youtube for a detailed video review. Features I love about this radio: * FM reception is some of the best I've experienced! * AM reception is good. * The speaker quality has good sound quality for voice/news/conversation. * The headphone jack also has excellent sound…

SW frequency range is 7.0-19.0MHz

My radio arrived today (08/31/2018). I noticed that the shortwave (HF) range on the radio itself is 7.0-19.0MHz, not 5.6-18.0MHz as described in the text and shown in the photos. Kaito (an Electronnix seller here on Revain) needs to update his product description and photos here on Revain. I wanted a simple, fairly inexpensive AM/FM radio that would also receive NOAA weather broadcasts and use D-cell batteries. I live in Houston, so hurricanes and extended power outages are a possibility…

Reliable base station.

This is the PERFECT radio for your first aid kit. Simple, easy to use (my wife doesn't like my digital tuning radios as they often get stuck on the lock function or some other feature that prevents tuning). signals. The flashlight is just an extra handy bonus. So little can go wrong with such a simple thing - and when the power goes out or you're stuck in a snow storm, we're getting to higher elevations (7500+ feet) here in Colorado, you want something that just works. This radio just works and

Lots of radios for one low price

I was looking for an inexpensive, portable radio that could handle all the major broadcast bands and the Kaito KA390 does the job perfectly. . The 3-inch speaker delivers a nice sound that's not muffled or tinny like some small radios, and the volume is big enough for me to hear from across the room. The tuning knob is easy to use and lets you fine-tune stations, while D-slots give you hundreds of hours of listening time. I'm glad this radio includes both the weather band and the shortwave band

Great price for a very versatile portable radio

I'm confused by the negative reviews on this radio. This is a cheap portable radio. It was designed with low cost, portability and great battery life in mind - scoring 10/10 on all three. The sound quality is really very good for a mono radio - more than satisfactory for me - and despite analogue tuning, it's easy for me to scroll through the bands to search for stations. In fact, I bought an extra one for my blind friend precisely because the radio is so easy to use, with few controls and no…

Damn good FM radio.

Well rats, where do you start? Let's talk about AM. The tuner appears to be some sort of hybrid digital setup. That means some features are sacrificed for FM. :-(You can get really good FM from the four bands on this radio.AM: If you just want some local 50kW stations, they're all there and everywhere. Where I live, this band is static throughout. Cool, huh? good! now we have something. FM stations are awesome! 50-60 miles away they are presented discreetly. They are pinpointed exactly! Wow…

  • Packaging is ugly

Great Sound! Looks good too! TUNER SHIT! Did I tune into the local AM station tonight when dialing SW? This is my third night with this radio! I waited to review because I wanted to try it. All in all I like this radio. However, the tuner is the weakest link. I walked through 4 groups at least 4 or 5 times every night. The tuner scares me because I have the feeling that it will break soon. It "screeches" when you tune into the station. EVERY strong station seems to bleed all over the band. I…
